Restoring Vision Campaign
Restoring Vision is ICA's flagship contribution initiative — and its reach is genuinely cross-cutting. We Channel donated reading glasses into communities, Convene local health workers, NGOs, churches and elderly facilities to deliver them, and Contribute directly to the dignity and independence of every beneficiary.
Bergrivier remains our primary beneficiary area; guided by our annual district research, this year's outreach also reached need identified in other West Coast
Municipal areas, where the campaign doubled as an introduction to the community foundation model for communities encountering ICA for the first time. Launched at a High Tea event on 22 November 2025, the campaign was made possible by a donation of 13 800 reading glasses and 1 200 sunglasses from our funder, Restoring Vision, in San Francisco.
- Outreach reached 2 391 beneficiaries in Bergrivier and, where our research identified need, other West Coast communities — entirely free of charge.
- Delivered in partnership with local Community Health volunteers, NGOs, churches, and old age homes — communities opened their doors and halls to host us.
- Beyond individual sight, beneficiaries described restored independence: reading scripture again, helping grandchildren with homework, returning to needlework, and reading labels and recipes unaided.
- •Beyond Bergrivier, each visit also introduces neighbouring communities to the community foundation model — opening the door to future local grant-making, capacity-building, and collaboration
